- The purpose of this research is to analyze efficiency production of coconut farming. The research used the method Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which is non-parametric method based on Linear Programming. The results of survey showed coconut farming in Pulau Burung has not using the technique of cultivation according to the standard. Most of coconut farming does not use fertilizers and pesticides. As well as plant maintenance activities performed relatively well, such as land cleaning and hoarding. Active farming activities carried out merely harvesting and post-harvest handling. Based on the analysis production of efficiency can be concluded that: First, most of the coconut farming is technically inefficient, indicated by use of labor has exceeded the capacity should be. Secondly, most of the coconut farming is also inefficient allocative, indicated by the input prices paid by farmers is greater than output prices they receive. Third, most of the coconut farming inefficient technical and allocative, indicating the majority of coconut farming is economically inefficient. To realize coconut farming economically efficient, it needs government intervention to motivate farmers to do farming in accordance with the recommendations of coconut palm cultivation techniques. Besides it is necessary efforts to control the input price and output price increases. Given the market structure that is monopsony resulted in coconut price received by farmers is lower than it should be.
