- Vegetable oil is one of the potential crops as a source of hydrocarbon energy sources in Indonesia. But such oils can not be used directly because it has a high viscosity, low number of Satan, the existence of free fatty acids, low volatility, the gum and high sediment formation when used as direct fuel (Fangrui Ma, 1999). Therefore, must be changed into another form of the alkyl ester (biodiesel). Given that the importance of using alternative fuel instead of biodiesel fuel that can not be updated then there is a need for further study of diesel engine using diesel fuel, after previously investigated the production of biodiesel from castor oil by rail enzimatis (Cahyandari Dini, et al, 2006) The use of biodiesel in this study are still using diesel fuel as a mixture. In this study researchers tried to examine the performance difference (for the diesel engine) between the use of diesel oil, a mixture of diesel oil and biodiesel as well as full use of biodiesel. Diesel engine performance need to know is the engine torque produced diesel engines that use biodiesel fuel and using fuel oil and diesel exhaust fumes of diesel engines dihasilakan by using a different fuel. As an initial study it conducted tests on diesel engine injection system is on when the engine in stationary or neutral conditions. As well as biodiesel fuel used is biodiesel from castor oil fence. The use of castor oil as a hedge of biodiesel fuel based on the initial allegations that biodiesel made from castor oil base fence does not require a mixture of diesel oil and does not require modification of diesel engines.
