- The effect of silicon on fluidity of grey cast iron has been investigated. Weight silicon added on ladle of molten metal are : 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 2.5 % wiegth of molten metal. Composition test for all compounds were tested by emmision spectrometry. This research resulted that increasing silicon up to 2,72 % fluidity grey cast iron is increase. Grey cast iron with silicon about 2,72 % wt has highest fluidity. Increasing silicon caused decreasing hardness of grey cast iron, because silicon causes the carbon to rapidly come out of solution as graphite. Key word : grey cast iron, silicon, fluidity
