  • Abstract: This research had the aim to describe and know the thinking process of grade 1 elementary school students in solving the problem of addition material questions. Subjects taken in this study were two elementary school students in grade 1 who were male and female. As many as two students each have average or moderate abilities. The method used is a qualitative method that refers to written tests and interviews. To check the validity of the written test results a time triangulation method is used, where different times are given questions with the same character. From the results of these studies, each of them concluded that male student had a conceptual thinking process, and female student had a conceptual thinking process.
