- The purpose of this research is to know and analyze the business problems and dynamics faced by “klithikan” merchants located in Alu-alun Selatan Yogyakarta. Data is compiled by field survey. The sample size selected with simple random sampling is 40 “klithikan” merchants and convenience sampling to respondents represented suppliers, buyers, and merchant community managers. Also, in-depth interview done with 5 “klithikan” merchants to complete the data and deepen the analysis. Analysis instrument utilized is descriptive amalysis.From this research found some problems: (1) business location, (2) business permission, (3) business capital, (4) weather, (5) supplies, and (6) another problems. The prominent problem according to respondents is : (1) capital limits to develop the business, and (2) the business location the business. The business dynamics experienced by “klithikan” merchants relatively static or difficult to develop the business. It is because of various limits the “klithikan” merchants have.
