- Bamboo apus leaf extract has the potential to be developed as a hand antiseptic. Chemical content contained in bamboo apus leaves are saponins, flavonids, phenols, alkaloids and essential oils. Bamboo Apus leaf extract has been shown to have antibacterial activity. Purpose: To find out that the bamboo apus leaves can be formulated into hand sanitizer gel preparations and can be applied by the surrounding community. Method: Preparation will be done by establishing partners (communities) who are nonproductive groups. Furthermore, at the implementation stage the team carried out an introduction to Hand sanitizer and its active ingredients and its benefits, then the next activity was continued with a question and answer session to participants regarding the material after which souvenirs were given to participants as appreciation for their attention to attending the activity. Results: The results of this study indicated that the hand sanitizer gel preparation of bamboo apus leaf extract met the characteristics requirements of the gel preparation. The resulting gel preparation has a thick, semi-solid texture and looks homogeneous when applied to transparent glass. The resulting color is brown and the extract's distinctive aroma. The pH produced from the hand sanitizer gel ranged from 6.3 to 6.5. Conclusion: Bamboo Apus leaf extract can be formulated into a hand sanitizer gel dosage form. It is recommended to the next researchers to test the antibacterial effectiveness of the hand sanitizer gel preparation of bamboo apus leaf extract.
