  • Individual coping can prevent the occurrence of depression and help to manage the disease among patients with diabetic mellitus type 2. The purpose of the study is to analyze the relationship between individual coping with the level of depression in patients with diabetic mellitus type 2. This study is using cross sectional analytic method with observational angle. The population is 35 diabetic mellitus type 2 patients, with sample of 32 diabetic mellitus type 2 patients. The sampling technique used is aimple random sampling with depression-coping level as independent variable. The statistical test used is rank-spearman test with ρ <α = 0.05. The result shows that patients with good coping level is 21 patients (65.6%), while patients with depression is 20 patients (62.5%). The Spearman rank test shows p = 0,002 <α = 0.05. This shows that there is a relationship between the individual coping with the level of depression in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2.
