- This study reviews the phenomenon of school violence lately rife in the world of education. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of a model of peace and human rights education (PD-HAM) to prevent violence in schools. This study uses a model of instructional systems development Gagne (2005) which consists of three stages, namely pre-development, development and post-development. This study used 35 subjects are second grade students Hangtuah Makassar. The results of research and development for converting the predevelopment stages, (1) obtain an overview of teachers' attitudes toward the phenomenon of violence in schools, the number of cases of human rights violations, lack of exemplary schools, and lack of application of ethical values and morals that are integrated in the subjects, and (2) obtain an overview of the attitudes and willingness of teachers to the urgency of the implementation of peace and human rights education model (PD-HAM) in elementary school. Or in other words, elementary school teachers agreed that if the PD-HAM may be an alternative solution to prevent violence in schools. Based on the need-assessment are used to develop teaching materials writer PD-HAM in primary schools. At this stage of development is also developed learning materials that educate the values contained there in peace and human rights education (PD-HAM). The results for the post-development stage shows, (1) based on the test results and test small group of experts show that the model developed PD-HAM has the precision (accuracy), usefulness (utility), and feasible (feasibility) to use. (2) the results of t-test showed a significant increase of 37%. This means that the model of peace and human rights education (PD-HAM) is effective to prevent violence in schools.
