- Abstract: The aims of this research are to improve the understanding of light characteristic concept through the use of Visualization Auditory Kinesthetic (VAK) learning model based on video medium of the students in 5th Grade of State Primary School Bangsalan 1, Boyolali Academic Year 2015/2016.This research used the classroom action research (CAR) with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were the 5th grade students of State Primary School Bangsalan 1 as many as 19 students. The data sources of the research were teacher and students. Data collection techniques were through observation, interview, documentation, and test. The data validity used were source triangulation, method triangulation, and item validity. The data analysis using analysis interactive and the technique of comparative descriptive. The results of the research showed the achievement of understanding of light characteristic concept the students in 5th grade State Primary School Bangsalan 1, Boyolali Academic Year 2015/2016 as evidenced from the increase in the average value of understanding of light concept characteristic in the pre-action is 56,95 completeness percentage amount to 26,32%. On the first cycle, the average value increased amount to 66,47 with completeness percentage amount to 57,89%. On the second cycle, the average value increased to be 78,82 with completeness percentage amount to 89,47%.The conclusion of this research is the use of Visualization Auditory Kinesthetic (VAK) learning model based on video medium can improve the understanding of light characteristic concept of the students in 5th grade State Primary School Bangsalan 1, Boyolali Academic Year 2015/2016. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep sifat-sifat cahaya melalui model pembelajaran Visualization, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) berbasis media video pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Bangsalan 1, Kecamatan Teras, Kabupaten Boyolali tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitan ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri Bangsalan 1 yang berjumlah 19 siswa. Sumber data yang digunakan berasal dari guru dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan tes. Validitas data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi sumber, triangulasi metode, dan validitas butir soal. Analisis data menggunakan analisis interaktif dan analisis deskriptif komparatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tercapainya pemahaman konsep sifat-sifat cahaya siswa kelas V SD Negeri Bangsalan 1 tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang dibuktikan dari peningkatan nilai pemahaman konsep sifat-sifat cahaya. Hasil rata-rata pratindakan mengenai pemahaman konsep sifat-sifat cahaya adalah 56,95 dengan persentase ketuntasan siswa sebesar 26,32%. Pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata kelas meningkat menjadi 66,47 dengan persentase ketuntasan siswa sebesar 57,89%. Pada siklus II, nilai rata-rata kelas meningkat sebesar 78,82 dengan persentase ketuntasan siswa sebesar 89,47%. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah penggunaan model pembelajaran Visualization, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) berbasis media video dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep sifat-sifat cahaya pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Bangsalan 1, Kecamatan Teras, Kabupaten Boyolali tahun ajaran 2015/2016.Kata Kunci: pemahaman, konsep sifat-sifat cahaya, Visualization, Auditory, Kinesthetic (VAK) berbasis media video
