- Abstract: The objective of this research is to improve the description writing skill through the use of picture and picture method of the students in Grade IV of State Primary School Krajan 01 of Gatak Sukoharjo in Academic Year 2014/2015. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. The data of research were collected through observation, in-depth interview, test, and documentation. They were validated by using the data source and data collection method triangulations. They were then analyzed by using the descriptive comparative model of analysis, namely: comparing the learning result prior to and following the treatment. Based on the result of research a conclusion is drawn that the use of picture and picture media can improve the description writing skill of of the students in Grade IV of State Primary School Krajan 01 of Gatak Sukoharjo in Academic Year 2014/2015. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis deskripsi melalui metode picture and picture pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Krajan 01, Gatak, Sukoharjo tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Uji validitas data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis model deskriptif komparatif yaitu dengan membandingkan hasil sebelum dilakukan penelitian dengan hasil pada akhir tiap siklus setelah penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode picture and picture dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis deskripsi pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Krajan 01, Gatak, Sukoharjo tahun ajaran 2014/2015.
