  • Abstract: The purpose of this research were to improve the students’ skill in writing narrative text through the use of guided note taking strategy of the students in Grade IV of State Primary School 01 of Malangjiwan, Colomadu in Academic Year 2013/2014 and to describe the constraints in the use of guided note taking strategy to improve the skill of writing narrative text of the students in Grade IV of State Primary School 01 of Malangjiwan, Colomadu in Academic Year 2013/2014. This research was a classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the research were 38 students in Grade IV of State Primary School 01 of Malangjiwan, Colomadu in Academic Year 2013/2014. The data sources of the research were the teacher and the students. The data of the research were collected through observation, in-depth interview, and documentation. They were validated by using the source triangulation and method triangulation. They were then analyzed by using interactive analysis. Based on the results of the research, a conclusion is drawn that the use of guided note taking strategy can improve the skill in writing narrative text of the students in Grade IV of State Primary School 01 of Malangjiwan, Colomadu in Academic Year 2013/2014. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis narasi melalui penggunaan strategi guided note taking pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 01 Malangjiwan Colomadu tahun ajaran 2013/2014 dan mendiskripsikan kendala-kendala dalam penggunaan strategi guided note taking untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 01 Malangjiwan Colomadu tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 01 Malangjiwan Colomadu yang berjumlah 38 siswa. Sumber data berasal dari guru dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah hasil observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Validitas data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi metode. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis interaktif. Simpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui penggunaan strategi guided note taking dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 01 Malangjiwan Colomadu tahun ajaran 2013/2014.
