- Abstract: This research’s aims to improve understanding of the concept of preparation for Indonesia's independence through a model of type STAD cooperative learning. This research used a classroom action research carried out in two cycles each cycle consisting of two meetings. The data collection techniques using the documentation, interviews, direct observation and tests. Techniques of data analysis using an interactive model analysis technique which consists of three components, namely the analysis of data reduction, presentation of data and drawing conclusions or verification of each cycle encompasses the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results show that through a model of type STAD cooperative learning can improve learning out comes preparation materials Indonesia's independence. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep persiapan kemerdekaan Indonesia melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus setiap siklus terdiri dari dua pertemuan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi, wawancara, observasi langsung dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis model interaktif yang terdiri dari tiga komponen analisis yaitu reduksi data, sajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi masing-masing siklus mencangkup tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwamelalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar materi persiapan kemerdekaan Indonesia. Kata kunci: konsep, persiapan kemerdekaan, STAD.
