- Abstract: This thesis aims to increase the understanding of the central goverment organization cencept by cooperative learning in type Student Facilitator and Explaining on the fourth grade students of Ngasem Elementary School, in 2012/2013 academic year. The form of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) that has been done in two cycles. Each cycles consist of four phases, those are planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques are interview, observation, test, and documentation. The data analysis tecniques which has been used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research obtains a conclusion that cooperative learning in type Student Facilitator And Explaining could increase the understanding of concept about central goverment organization on the fourth grade students of Ngasem Elementary School, in 2012/2013 academic year.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep organisasi pemerintahan tingkat pusat melalui pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Facilitator And Explaining pada siswa kelas IV SDN 02 Ngasem Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah dengan wawancara, observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan dengan cara reduksi data, sajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Facilitator and Explaining dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep organisasi pemerintahan tingkat pusat pada siswa kelas IV SDN 02 Ngasem Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013.
