- Abstract:The purpose of this research was todescribe the implementation of cooperative learning model type CIRC and improve the ability of finding the main sentence in the paragraph through cooperative learning model type CIRC. The form of this research was classroom action research that consists of two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used the documentation, interviews, observations, and tests. The techniques of data analysis used analytical interactive model that consists of three components, they are data reduction, data display, and conclusion or verification.The conclusion was through the implementation of cooperative learning model type CIRC can improve the ability of finding main sentence in the paragraphthe Fourth Grade Students of SDNegeri 02 Paseban, Jumapolo, Karanganyarat 2012/2013 Academic Year. Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan implementasi penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC dan meningkatkan kemampuan menemukan kalimat utama dalam paragraf melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari dua siklus, tiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi, wawancara, observasi, dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis model interaktif yang terdiri dari tiga komponen yaitu reduksi data, sajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Simpulan penelitian ini yaitu penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRCdapat meningkatkan kemampuan menemukan kalimat utama dalam paragrafpada Siswa Kelas IV SD Negeri 02 Paseban, Jumapolo, Karanganyar Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013. Kata Kunci: Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition, kemampuan, kalimat utama.
