  • The purposes of this research are to show that using Guide O Rama Strategy can improve the students’ Reading Skillofthe eighth graders of SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Metro in academic yearof2019/2020.The writer had outlined the problem in this research that focused on reading skill. It is related on the problem identification that the students have low motivation to learn English especially in reading, there is difficulties to determine the main idea in the text, also not interested about the learning method in the class. Furthermore, the kind of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. Object of this research is the students’ reading skill. In collecting the data used test, observation and documentation. Finally, the finding research is averagescore of pre-test, post-test I and post-test II showed that there was progressing score.In cycle I, the average score at pre-test was 51.73, and in post-test I the average sore was 72.86 and the average score of post test II was 84.7. Based on the result, it could be said that using Guide O Rama is one strategy toimprove the students’ reading skillof the eighth graders of SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Metro.
