  • The aim of this research is to improve the students‟ argumentative writing ability after using Problem Based Learning at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri1 Sekampung East Lampung. This research was classroom action research type, and it was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four steps that were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data collection method in this research was test, observation, documentation, and field note. Finding the research was significant improvement from cycle I to Cycle II. The average score of post-test I was 66,1 with percentage of students‟ successfulness 46%. Next to cycle II the average score was 73,6 with percentage of students‟ successfulness 80%. It indicated that indicator of success has been achieved at least 70% students wascompleted the Minimum Standard Criteria (MSC) at least 70. The conclusion of the research is by using Problem Based Learning Approach could help improve students argumentative writing ability at the elevent grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sekampung.
