- ABSTRACTWulansariRetno.2019.AStudyofRelationshipbetweenOut-of-classLanguageLearningActivitiesandEnglishLanguageAchievementamongSeniorHighSchoolStudents.ThesisDepartmentofEnglishFacultyofLettersStateUniversityofMalangAdvisors(1)Dr.EkaningDewantiLaksmiM.Pd.M.A.(II)RahmatiPutriYaniafariS.Pd.M.Pd.Keywordsrelationshipout-of-classlanguagelearningEnglishlanguageachievement.Out-of-classlanguagelearningactivitiesisanimportantelementforSeniorHighSchoolStudentsbecauseitcansupportEnglishlearningintheclassroom.Studentsareexpectedtohavevariousactivitieswhichsupportthemtousethetargetlanguagebeyondtheclassroom.Thewillingnessthatthestudentshavetodeliberatelypracticegoodlanguagelearningactivitieswillmakethemtobegoodlanguagelearners.Goodlanguagelearnerscanbeconsideredasautonomouslearnersinwhichtheyengagethemselvestoanykindsofout-of-classlanguagelearningactivities.AsaresulttheirEnglishskillsandachievementintheschoolincrease.Howevermanystudentsdonotrealizethatdoingout-of-classlanguagelearningwillleadthemtosuccessinmasteringEnglishandgetagoodEnglishtestscore.Hencethisstudyaimsatinvestigatingtherelationshipbetweenstudentsout-of-classlanguagelearningactivitiesandSeniorHighSchoolStudentsEnglishlanguageachievement.Thisstudyisacorrelationalstudy.TherearetwokindsofinstrumentsusedinthisstudywhicharequestionnaireandEnglishtest.Thestudywasconductedto71tenthandeleventhgradersstudentsofSMANegeri1Tempeh.Beforeconductingthestudythetryoutphasewasdonetoknowthevalidityandreliabilityoftheinstruments.ThedatawerethenanalysedbyusingSpearmanrankcorrelationcoefficientformulatoknowthecorrelationbetweentwovariables.Theresultoftheanalysisshowedthatthecorrelationcoefficient(61554xy)was.757.Ittheninterpretedby61554table.234using5%ofsignificant.Theresultshowedthatthe61554xywasgreaterthanthe61554table.234.Asaresultthenullhypothesiswasrejectedandthealternativehypothesiswasaccepted.ItmeantthattherewasapositivesignificantcorrelationbetweenthestudentsOut-of-classLanguageLearningActivities(OCLLA)andtheirEnglishlanguageachievement.TosumupthisstudyrevealsthatthehigherthescoreofthestudentsOut-of-classLanguageLearningActivities(OCLLA)thehigherscoresoftheEnglishlanguageachievementtheyget.Fromthisresultfurtherresearcherswhoareinterestedinconductingthesimilarstudyaresuggestedtoconductastudyusingexpostfactotorevealcauseandeffectrelationship.
