- KeywordsWorkbookEnglishDramaCharacterBuildingThestudyisaimedtodevelopaworkbookforEnglishdramabyincorporatingcharacterbuildingforcollegestudentsofEnglishDepartmentinLambungMangkuratUniversity.TheworkbookisdevelopedbasedontheneedsofstudentanditmatchesthedemandofthecourseoutlineoftheEnglishDepartmentinLambungMangkuratUniversity.ThemethodusedinthisresearchwasResearchandDevelopment(RD)byusingadoptedmodelfromBorgandGall.Thestagesinthedevelopmentinvolvetheneedsassessmentreferencestudymaterialdevelopmentexpertvalidationtry-outandfinalproduct.Theneedsanalysisstagewasaimedatgettinginformationintermsoftopicandkindsofexercisesrelatedtotheproportionoftheworkbookfordramaclass.Thereferencestudystagewasdonetoreviewtheexistingmaterialusedintheclassroomtheinstructionalgoalbasedonsyllabusandthecourseoutline.AfterthosestagestheworkbookdevelopedbyfollowingtheframeworkmadebyAnirohandHutchinsonandWatersforexercisedevelopment.Thenextstepwasexpertvalidation.Twoexpertswereinvolvedexpertinmaterialdevelopmentandeducationpractitionerexpert.Aftertheproductwasvalidatedthetry-outstagewasheld.20studentswasinvolvedinthetry-outanditwasconductedinordertohavestudentscommentsonthedevelopedworkbookidentifystudentsdifficultyandimprovetheinstructionalintheworkbook.Theresultofthedevelopedworkbookgatheredfromtheexpertinmaterialdevelopmentandtheexpertineducationpractitionerwasgood.Howeverthereweresomerevisionsintermsoftheclarityofinstructionandexamplesintheworkbook(inUnit1).Theresultoftry-outfor6unitsoftheworkbookindicatedthattheworkbookwasgoodenoughbutsomelay-outandinstructionneedtoberevisedbasedonthestudentsfeedback.Basedontheresultoftheresearchseveralrecommendationsareofferedasthefollowing.ThecommentsfromtheexpertsstudentsandalsolecturerofLiteraturesII(Drama)canbeusedtoimprovepositiveaspectsoftheworkbook.Theclarityofcourseobjectivesisrequiredtobethebasicfoundationtomakethecontentmaterialsoftheworkbook.Itisalsonecessaryfortheresearcherorotherpeoplewhoareinterestedintheproducttotry-outallunitsintheworkbooktogettheinformationaboutthestrengthsandweaknessesofeachchapterbasedontheuserofthebook.Otherrecommendationistousemorethanoneteacherorlecturertoteachsothatmoreinsightandinputcanbeobtained.Forthefutureresearcherespeciallymaterialdevelopmentareathisresearchcanbeusedasonereferencefordevelopingworkbooksespeciallyfordramaclasses.
