  • ABSTRACTKristinaNinik.2009.ApplicationofDirectInstructionwithContextualApproachtoImproveStudentsAchievementinClassVIIIAUPTDSMPNegeri2GampengrejoKabupatenKediriinAcademicyear2008/2009.Apaperthephysicsdepartment.UniversityofMalang.Supervisors(I)Drs.Sumarjono(II)Drs.AsimM.Pd.Keyworddirectinstructioncontextualapproachstudentsachievement.BasedontheresultoftheobservationfoundthattheteachinglearningprocessofphysicsinclassVIIIAUPTDSMPNegeri2Gampengrejowascarriedoutconventionallyandstudentswerepassive.Theresultofinterviewwithphysicsteachershowedthatthestudentscomprehensionofphysicswaslowitcanbeseenonhowmanystudentsjoinedinremedialexamtogetthepassinggradeandtheindependencyofstudentsonlearningwaslow.Fromthedescriptionaboveitneededimprovementinteachinglearningprocessusingdirectinstructionwithcontextualapproach.Itishopedthatthestudentsachievementinphysicsimproves.Thisresearchisaclassactionresearchusingdirectinstructioninphysicsclassonthetopiclight.Itisconductedintwocycleseachcycleconsistof2meetingsforfourteachingperiods.Thesubjectofthisclassactionresearchisthe39studentsofclassVIIIAUPTDSMPNegeri2GampengrejoKab.Kediri.Theresearchiscarriedoutinevensemesteracademicyear2008/2009.Thedatagotisthestudentsachievementincludingthreeaspectswhicharecognitiveaffectiveandpsychomotorandteachingleaningprocessandfieldnote.Thecognitiveaspectismeasuredfromthestudentsscoreaffectiveandpsychomotorgotfromobservationincycle1andcycle2.Theimprovementofstudentsachievementcanbeseenfromtheresultoftestincycle1andcycle2.Theimprovementofthecognitiveaspectbetweencycle1andcycle2is6964becomes8264whichhascriteriagoodbecomesverygood.Theimprovementoftheaffectiveaspectbetweencycle1andcycleis476%becomes6009%whichhascriteriafairbecomesgood.Theimprovementofthepsychomotoraspectbetweencycle1andcycleis5735%becomes7006%whichhascriteriafairbecomesgood.BasedontheresultofthisclassactionresearchitcanbeconcludedthatdirectinstructionwithcontextualapproachcanimprovestudentsachievementofclassVIIIAUPTDSMPNegeri2GampengrejoKab.Kediri.
