  • Speakingisaproductiveskillthatproveshowmuchstudentsarecompetentinalanguage.Thisstudyintendstoimprovethestudentsspeakingskillsintermsoffluencyandpronunciationbyexpoundingtheirexperienceinrecounttextusingthevlog-basedstrategy.Thestudentsspeakingabilityscoresarebelow75thestandardminimumscoreattheschool.NowadayslearningactivityinIndonesiaiscarriedoutonlineduetotheCovid-19pandemic.ThestudentshaveproblemswithspeakingEnglish.Thedesignofthisstudyisaclassroomactionresearchinonecycle.Inconductingthisstudytheresearcherinvolved32studentsofclassVIII-Aasthestudyrespondents.Thedatawerecollectedbyanobservationchecklistaquestionnaireandaspeakingtest.Thefindingsshowedthatthestudentsspeakingabilitywasenhancedinonecycleofthreemeetingsandachievedsuccesscriteriaindicatedbytheirscoreineachsession.Inmeeting1theywerealreadyconfidentinspeakingEnglishbutwerestillnotfluentandhadperformedsomemistakesinpronunciation.Inmeeting2thestudentsspokemorefluentlyandperformedbetterinpronunciation.Inthelastmeetingthestudentswereassignedtodoataskinspeakingperformancethroughvlog.Theresearcherappliedquestion-answeraboutvlogcontentandtheextensiveperformancebystudentsinpracticingtheirvlogtoimprovetheirspeaking.Itshowedthatthestudentsrsquoperformancehasreachedthecriteriaofsuccess.
