- KeywordsTermsofAddressApaKabarIndonesiaPagiThisstudyfocusesontermsofaddressusedbythepresentersofApaKabarIndonesiaPagi.ThestudyintendstofindouttypesofaddresstermsemployedbythepresentersofApaKabarIndonesiaPagiamorningtalkshowbasedonthelatestandongoingnewstopicsandeventsinIndonesiaandaroundtheworldairedintvOne.Inadditionthisstudyalsoaimstofindoutthefactorsthatinfluencetheuseofcertaintermsofaddress.Thisresearchislimitedtoinvestigatingthetermsofaddressemployedbythepresentersofthetalkshow.Thestudyusesdescriptive-qualitativeresearchdesigninwhichitdescribesthenatureoftermsofaddressutilizedbythepresentersofApaKabarIndonesiaPagi.ThedataarecategorizedandanalyzedemployingtheamalgamatedclassificationofaddresstermssetoutbyMcArthur(1998)andKadarisman(2008)inordertogettheaddresstermsusedbythepresentersandtheirunderlyingfactors.ThenindeterminingtheusecertaintermsofaddressthisresearchemploysthefactorssetoutbyKartomihardjo(1979).Thefindingsofthisstudyshowthatthereare11typesoftermsofaddressusedbythepresentersofApaKabarIndonesiaPaginamely(1)truesecondpronouns(2)kinshiptermsandnames(3)professionaltitlesandnames(4)titlesandlastnames(5)baretitles(6)names(7)zeropronouns(8)abbreviatednames(9)religioustitlesandnames(10)grouptitlesand(11)kinandprofessionaltitles.Thestudyalsorevealsthattheuseofthosetermsofaddresshighlyreliesuponsomefactorstheyareagegendersocialstatuseducationalbackgroundethnicityandsituation.Accordingtothestudyitcanbenoticedthattheideaofkinship-orientedcultureisdeeplyrootedintheheartoftheIndonesian.Itcanbeclearlyseenfromtheuseofkinshiptermsandnameswhichexceedstheothercategories.ThereforeitcanbeconcludedthatacollectivisticcultureembracedbytheIndonesianisalsoreflectedintheemploymentofthetermsofaddress.TheresultsofthestudybringsomeusefulsuggestionsforstudentsandlecturersofEnglishlinguisticsandalsofutureresearchers.Thisresearchmaygiveacontributiontothecomprehensionofthecross-culturalunderstandingstudybetweenEnglishandIndonesianwhichisreflectedintheiraddressterms.Thustheresearchersuggeststhatsuchstudentsandlecturersshouldbeencouragedtotakethisphenomenonintoaccountasoneoftheirfocusofcross-culturalunderstandingstudy.ForthefutureresearcherstheresearcherhopesthattherewillbestudieswhichfocusontheIndonesianaddresstermsinotherfields.
