  • ThecurriculumusedtoteachEnglishsubjectinaninternationalclassisdifferentfromthoseinregularclass.ThedifferenceincludestheEnglishteachingtechniques.Inthisresearchstudythetechniquesareobservedanddescribed.ThustheobjectiveofthisstudyistofigureoutthekindsofEnglishteachingtechniquesinaninternationalclass.SecondlythetechniquesareexaminedfurthertoseewhichtheoriesofSecondLanguageAcquisitionarerelevanttothem.Thisstudywasadescriptivequalitativeresearch.ThesubjectwastheEnglishteacherattheinternationalclassinSMPN8Malang.Togetthedatatheresearcherusedfourinstrumentsquestionnairesobservationsinterviewguidesanddocumentations.Havingbeencollectedthedatawereanalyzedthroughthreestepsorderingstructuringandgivingmeaningtothedata.TheresultsofdataanalysisshowthattherewereseventechniquesusedbytheteacherinteachingEnglish.Theyareroleplayscrabblegamedrillinganddoingexerciseslecturingdictationstudentsspeechandpeercorrection.HavingbeenexaminedtoSLAtheoriesthetechniquesappliedinEnglishteachingattheinternationalclassinSMPN8MalangarerelevanttomanyofSLAtheories.InadditiontheinternationalclassatSMPN8MalanghasqualifiedEnglishteachersmallsizeclasswithsmartstudentsandcompletefacilitiesforthestudents.RegardlessofthestrengthsmanyimprovementsareneededtoincreasethequalityoftheEnglishteachingtechniquesintheinternationalclassbasedonSLAtheories.Reflectinguponthestrengthsandweaknessesoftheinternationalclassasfoundinthisstudysomerecommendationsaregiven.Firstlyitissuggestedthatthecurriculumfortheinternationalclassisdesignedsoon.SecondlyitissuggestedfortheEnglishteacherintheinternationalclasstoimprovehercomprehensionofSecondLanguageAcquisitiontheories.Itwillbevaluableifshecaninternalizethetheoriesasthebasisinchoosingteachingtechniques.Inadditionsheshouldusemoremediaandoptimizetheuseofthelaptopsinherteachingprocessintheclass.Finallyforthestudentsoftheinternationalclasstheyaresuggestedtoadapttheirownlearningstylewiththestylesusedintheinternationalclasstohaveenjoyableandeffectivewaysinlearning.
