  • AbstrakTheclassificationinthecurriculumdifferenciatethestudentsofseniorhighschoolintothreestreamingsIPA(HardScience)IPS(SocialScience)andBahasa(Languange)Programs.TheHardScienceandSocialScienceProgramshavethesametimeallocationforEnglishsubjectsotheystudyEnglsihforthesameperiodsoftimethatis4sessionsaweek.HoweverthepublicopinionclaimsthatthestudentsoftheHardScienceProgramarehigherqualifiedthanthoseoftheSocialProgram.ThissituationraisesaquestionwhethertheEnglishachievementofthestudentsofbothprogramsisdifferentornot.ThusthisstudyisintendedtoinvestigatewhetherthereisasignificantdifferenceintheEnglishachievementofthestudentsoftheHardScienceandSocialSciencePrograms.Inadditionitisalsotofindthefactorsthatmaycontributetothedifferentachievementofthestudentsofbothprograms.ThepopulationofthisstudyisallthestudentsofSMANegeri2JombangmajoringintheHardScienceandSocialSciencePrograms.ThesamplesinthisstudyareGradeXIIPA-6whichrespresentstheHardScienceProgramandGradeXIIPS-2astherepresentativeoftheSocialScienceProgram.TheyarechosenpurposivelythatisbothclassesaretaughtbythesameEnglishteacher.Furthermorethedataareobtainedbyusingdocumentofscoresobservationsheetsandquestionnaires(forthestudentsandfortheteacher).Thenthedatafromthedocumentofscoresofthestudentsareanalyzedusingt-testtodeterminewhetherthedifferenceoftheEnglishachievementofthestudentsofbothprogramsissignificantornot.Whilethedatafromtheobservationsheetsandquestionnairesareanalyzedusingthetableoffrequencydistributionandpercentageandalsopresentedinadescriptiveform.TheresultshowsthatthemeanscoreofthestudentsoftheHardScienceProgramis74.39andthatoftheSocialScienceProgramis74.Thecalculationusingthet-testshowsthattheobtainedt-valueis0.175.Itismuchsmallerthantheappropriatet-valueinthet-tableof1.671whichisneededinadirectionaltestforthelevelofsignificantof0.05.Itmeansthatthenullhypothesisinthisstudyisacceptedandtheresearchhypothesisisrejected.SothereisnosignificantdifferenceintheEnglishachievementbetweenthestudentsoftheHardScienceandtheSocialSciencePrograms.FurthermoretherearesomefactorsthatmightinfluencethesameEnglishachievementofthestudentsofbothprogramsnamelycontextvariablepresagevariableandprocessvariable.BasedontheresultofthedataanalysisitcanbeconcludedthatthestudentsoftheHardScienceandtheSocialScienceProgramshavethesamemuch.Iknowyoualwaysseemeandgiveyourprayersfromtheheaven.TomyonlyyoungersisterDekSilvithanksforyourloveandsupport.Iknowyouwillbelikemesomeday.Ialsowanttosendmyspecialgratitudeformylategrandmaforallherprayersandtrustinme.WhyshouldyouyouleavemebeforeIcanshowthatIcouldfulfillyourdreamIhopethatthisisthebestdecisionforusboth.AndtomyMasAndrithanksforyoursincerelovesupportandprayers.Thanksforyourtimeyouhavespentandeverythingyouhavegiventome.Icannotimaginehowmylifewouldbewithoutyou.FinallyIcancompletethisthesis.Ihopeyoucanalsobehappywithmyfinalwork.ForallofmyfriendsintheEnglishEducation2004youaremyinspirations.MygreatestfriendsMbakUusLarasDjokoShanNgengthankyouforallthesupportandinspirations.Idonotforgettosaythankstothe443C-ers(myboardinghousemates)whohavegivenmeendlesssupportandencouragementIsrinFidaMbakHerlinFatimChoSenjaAniEniDiahRetnoUusTikaIdaNiaandElis.Thebestshipintheworldisfriendship.IloveyouallGirlsIthankGodforblessingmewithfriendslikeyouall.FinallyIwouldliketosaythankyoutoallpeoplewhomeansomuchforme.MayAllahalwaysblessus.Amin.
