- ivSUMMARYEniswaraTyaraM.2018.TheInfluenceofUsingEnglishSongsontheSeventhGradersVocabularyMasteryinSMPN21Malang.UndergraduateThesisEnglishDepartmentFacultyofLettersUniversitasNegeriMalang.Advisors(1)Dr.SriRachmajantiDip.TESLM.Pd.(2)Dr.MirjamAnugerahwatiM.A.KeywordsEnglishsongsvocabularymasteryseventhgradersSongsofeducationalvalueswereusedsincethiskindofsongisagenreofmusicinwhichthemusicalelementsareusedasamediumforlearningandteachingactivities.Thechosensongshavedescriptivetextasthetopic.Theresearcherfocusonfunctionalandcontentwords.ThusthisresearchintendedtoverifytheinfluenceofusingEnglishsongsonstudentsvocabularymastery.Theresearchadoptedapre-experimentaldesign.Theresearchergaveapretestadministeredthetreatmentsandthengaveapost-test.Thetreatmentswereconductedin8meetings.ThesubjectsofthestudywereClassVII.8studentsofthesecondsemesterintheacademicschoolyearof2017/2018.Theclassconsistedof36students.Theinstrumentsusedwereinterviewguidelineobservationchecklistquestionnaireandvocabularytest.ThedatafromtheinstrumentsweretoinvestigatetheeffectivenessofusingEnglishsongstowardthestudentsvocabularymastery.ThefindingsofthisresearchprovedthattheuseofEnglishsongseffectivelyinfluencedstudentsvocabularymastery.Theyobtained69.1fortheirpre-testand81.5fortheirpost-test.Theaveragescoreofposttestwassignificantlyhigherthanpretestwith.000asthelevelofsignificance.Sincethelevelofsignificancewassmallerthan.05itcanbeconcludedthattheHoisrejectedandHaisaccepted.BasedontheresultofinterviewguidelinetheEnglishteacherstatedthattheuseofEnglishsongsplayedanimportantroleonstudentsvocabularymastery.Theresultofobservationchecklistwasdiscoveredthatthestudentsactivelyparticipatedinlearningandteachingprocess.ThedatafromthestudentsquestionnairealsoshowedpositiveresultabouttheuseofEnglishsongsinclass.ItcouldbeconcludedthattheseventhgradersofSMPN21MalanghadhighervocabularymasteryafterbeingtaughtusingEnglishsongs.
