- This article discusses various alternative perspectives from philosophy, sociology, anthropology and political economics of management control system. Such perspectives may be enriched by adopting interpretive/ qualitative methods and inductive way of reasoning in conducting research in this area. It is argued that the above developments may produce theoretical frameworks of management control that are more relevant to organisational and social contexts in Indonesia. Some agendas are also proposed for the future theoretical developments of management control system.
