- Community participation in waste management is highly dependent on the understanding and willingness of the community to maintain and create a clean environment. The purpose of this study was to determine community participation in maintaining cleanliness on the coast of Karangria, Manado City. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The technique of collecting data used is observation, interviews and data collection with documents to see how public participation in maintaining cleanliness on the coast of Karangria, Manado. The researcher used two indicators, namely: direct participation and indirect participation. Based on the results of this study stated that community participation in maintaining cleanliness on the coast of Karangria in Manado City is still not good because the community is still not aware of maintaining / maintaining the cleanliness of the coast of Karangria. It can be concluded that the awareness of the community in maintaining cleanliness on the coast of Karangria in Manado City is still not good.Keywords: Community Participation, Cleanliness, Coastal Areas
