PELAKSANAAN SUPERVISI OLEH PENGAWAS SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI ROFESIONALISME GURU PADA SMA NEGERI 2 BANDAR BARU PIDIE JAYA

- Abstract: Teaching supervision is guiding services are performed by supervisors on teachers to perform activities at school which directly influence the learning in improving students’ learning quality. This study aim to determine how the supervision was conducted by the school supervisors in improving teacher professional competence, including: (1) the implementation of the supervision by the school supervisors; (2) supervision techniques; and (3) supporting and inhibiting factors of supervision. This study used qualitative approach. Data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation study. Subjects of the study were school supervisor, principal, and teachers of the State Senior High School 2 Bandar Baru of Pidie Jaya. The results of the study showed that: (1) the implementation of the supervision by the supervisors has not been programmed, consequently the supervisors have not been able to fully improve the teacher professional competence; (2) the supervision techniques used were group discussion, classroom visit, and individual talk. All these techniques were carried out just for the formality and has not been able to improve the teacher professional competence. The supervision was performed briefly due to the limitation of time. In addition, the supervisors have not made a good supervision planning; (3) the supporting factors of the supervision were: the presence of the supervisors made the teachers felt motivated to implement learning programs, learn how to prepare good lesson plans, and practice various teaching methods. Whereas, the inhibiting factors were: lack of the ability of the supervisors in developing supervision programs. Besides, the supervisors conducted the supervision has different field of study from the teachers supervised so that the impact was not really significant on the improvement of the teacher professional competence. This condition occurred because Pidie Jaya is still under development in all fields, including in the field of education.Keywords: Supervision of School Supervisor and Teacher Professional Competence.Abstak: Supervisi pengajaran adalah layanan bersifat membimbing yang dilakukan supervisor terhadap guru untuk melaksanakan kegiatan di sekolah yang langsung berpengaruh terhadap pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan kualitas belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara supervisi pengawas sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru yang meliputi: (1) pelaksanaan supervisi pengawas sekolah; (2) teknik supervisi; (3) faktor pendukung dan penghambat supervisi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah pengawas, kepala sekolah, dan guru di SMA Negeri 2 Bandar Baru Pidie Jaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pelaksanaan supervisi yang dilaksanakan pengawas sekolah belum terprogram, sehingga pengawas sekolah belum sepenuhnya dapat meningkatkan profesionalisme guru; (2) teknik supervisi yang dilaksanakan pengawas adalah dengan diskusi kelompok, mengadakan kunjungan kelas, pembicaraan individual. Semua ini bersifat umum sekadar hanya menjalankan tugas dan belum ke arah peningkatan profesionalisme guru. Pelaksanaan supervisi dilakukan pengawas secara singkat, karena keterbatasan waktu. Selain itu, pengawas belum membuat perencanaan yang lebih baik; (3) faktor Pendukung pelaksanaan supervisi oleh pengawas yaitu kehadiran pengawas membuat para guru termotivasi dalam melaksanakan program pembelajaran, adanya motivasi guru untuk belajar membuat RPP dengan baik dan melatih berbagai metode mengajar. Adapun faktor penghambat pelaksanaan suvervisi yang dilakukan oleh pengawas yaitu kurangnya kemampuan pengawas sekolah dalam menyusun program supervise. Selain itu, tenaga pengawas yang tidak sesuai dengan masing-masing bidang studi sehingga supervisi yang dilaksanakan belum memberikan pengaruh yang besar dalam peningkatan profesional guru. Kondisi ini juga terjadi, karena Kabupaten Pidie Jaya masih dalam tahap pengembangan di segala bidang termasuk di bidang pendidikan.Kata Kunci: Supervisi Pengawas Sekolah dan Kompetensi Profesional Guru.
