- The aim of this research is to find out the barrier that is faced by the teacher in teaching geography with the matery about geographic information system. The subject of this research was the geographicâ€TMs teacher. Used descriptive qualitative analysis. The data collecting in this research were documentation, observation and interviewing. From the research, it was found that the barriers teacher faced in teaching Geographic Information System (GIS) are: (a ) Barriers teacher mastery of the material in GIS : geography teachers have never received a Geographic Information System courses during the lecture, teacher training has not been held of GIS, learning method appropriate less material GIS ( b ) Barriers teachers in the use and mastery of instructional media GIS : geography teacher not have the skills in the operation of GIS software and the availability of school facilities and infrastructure which can be used as a medium of learning GIS is very less.Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui hambatan guru geografi dalam pembelajaran geografi materi SIG. Subjek penelitian adalah guru geografi kelas XII SMA Negeri 1 Palas. Menggunakan analisis data deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data adalah dokumentasi, observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hambatan guru dalam pembelajaran SIG di SMA Negeri 1 Palas meliputi (a) Hambatan guru dalam penguasaan materi SIG: guru geografi belum pernah mendapat materi Sistem Informasi Geografis pada saat kuliah, guru belum pernah mengikuti pelatihan terkait materi SIG, metode pembelajaran kurang sesuai dengan materi SIG (b) Hambatan guru dalam penggunaan dan penguasan media pembelajaran SIG: guru geografi belum memiliki keterampilan dalam pengoperasian software SIG dan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana sekolah yang dapat dijadikan media pembelajaran SIG sangat kurang.Kata kunci: hambatan guru, pembelajaran geografi, sistem informasi geografis.
