- Abstract: Maternal mortality rate in Indonesia based on the report of SDKI 2003 still high, that was 307/100.000 birth alive, if it is compared with other ASEAN member countries. One of the causes of mother’s mortality is the insufficiency coverage of delivery assisted by health care provider. The coverage of delivery in Indonesia still below 80 % as it is targeted by government. The economy crisis that is occurred since 1997 caused high number of poor family in Indonesia. This condition is estimated could influence family’s paying ability so that community’s access to the health service still low especially the coverage of delivery assistance. This problem would hamper the delivery coverage target by health care provider with 90 % in the year of 2010. In order to find out the relationshipof family’s paying ability with the utilization of health service especially the use of delivery assistance in Indonesia. This was an observational research with cross sectional design that used data of Susenas Kor 2001. The population in the research was household with children aged < = 1 years old. The sample of the research chose total population with research subject of household with children aged < = 1 years old with population total sample that consisted of inclusion and exclusion criteria that has been previously determined.
