- Abstract : Anxiety tends to occur in patients with Congestive Heart Failure due to changes caused by the disease process such as having shortness of breath and chest pain that these stressors affect one's coping mechanisms. How big is the proportion of anxiety and coping mechanisms and their relationship is unclear. Thus this study aims to examine the association of anxiety with coping mechanisms in patients with CHF. This type of research is descriptive analitic. Carried out in the Irina F BLU RSUP Prof Dr.R.D Kandou Manado, the period of June 2012 to accidental sampling technique on 30 respondents. Instruments used questionnaires HRS-A anxiety and coping mechanisms COPE questionnaire. Analysis was used Che Square test. Chi Square analysis results count = 8213 X 2 Calculate the Chi Square Table X 2 table at df = 1 with a significance level of 5% (0.05 = 3.81). Because X 2 Calculate greater than X 2 Table (8213> 3.81), it can be stated that there is a significant relationship between the level of anxiety with coping mechanisms in patients with CHF (p=0.004
