- Abstract The quality of water which meets the very health depends on the raw water source and construction of existing facilities. Sources originating from an aquifer layer found containing free iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) in excess water quality standard. Alternative appropriate technology that is up flow sand filter is an option to consider. Research with this experimental method aimed at the effectiveness of up flow sand filter in the processing of raw water containing Fe and Mn. Based on the data anlisis be concluded that the up flow sand filter is effective in the treatment of raw water containing Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn).
