- Diabetes Mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristic hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. British Diabetic Association recommends that patients with diabetes apply a similar diet to the vegetarian diet as vegetarians tend to consume enriched carbohydrates and fibers.This research is a descriptive study observational analytic using cross sectional design. This study describes the differences in levels of blood glucose and lipid profile in patients with diabetes mellitus type II which were given a diet lacto ovo vegetarian and the non-vegetarians. This study was conducted at the R.W. Monginsidi Manado Hospital forthe nonlacto ovo vegetarian, and at Manado Adventist Hospital for thelacto ovo vegetarians diet.From the test results statistically using unpaired T test for the Mean value or average fasting blood glucose levels showed an average of each group, the non-vegetarian group worth 179 while the lacto ovo value 138 with a value of 0,072 siq where> 0.05, which means there were no differences between the groups of non-vegetarian and lacto ovo vegetarian, kolesterol total (p=0,015), LDL (p=0,067), HDL (p=0,017), Trigliserida (p=0,026)The conclusion of this research shows no difference in blood glucose levels forthe patients who were given diet lacto ovo vegetarian and the non-vegetarians.However, there are differences of Lipid Profile levels to the patients given diet lacto ovo vegetarian and the non-vegetarian.Keywords: Blood Glucose, Lipid Profile, Diabetes Mellitus Type II, Lacto Ovo Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian
