- Paul Tillich has properly pointed out the nature of caring as generaland universal human characteristic. In the church, caring is transformed intopastoral care by reference both motivation and context. It is the conscius actingout toward one another of the love that God as shown to us and it is done withinand also as a representative of the community of faith. But there are a certaintypes of situastions of human distress for which the pastoral caring is notsufficient. Therefore, the church needs to perform a specialized technique ofcaring, which called pastoral counseling.
