PERTUMBUHAN Rhizophora apiculata DENGAN DUA TEKNIK PERSEMAIAN HIDROPONIK NFT (nutrient film technique) DAN TRADISIONAL
Daftar Isi:
- The mangrove forests in Indonesia are decreasing in term of density because of the exessive utilization of the forests for various activities, and that could lead to the forests themselves being destroyed and the land becomes cleared. There are efforts to prevent the forests before they become more severely damaged, and one of them is to rehabilitate the forests by planting. Mangrove planting with which the seeds come from a nursery has a relatively high success of growth, at about 60-80%. Mangrove nursery is currently done in traditional way, but there’s an alternative way that is done by a hidroponic technique called the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique). This research aims to analyze the percentage of the surviving R. apiculata in NFT hidroponic nursery and in the traditional nursery, and also to analyze the growth rate of R. apiculata to determine which nurseries show the better result. The obtained result shows the percentage of the surviving R. apiculata seeds reached 100 % at each nursery. In other words, there were no dead seeds, which denotes that the seeds were able to adapt to the nursery enviroment. The best R. apiculata seed growth was on the traditionally seedbed with high value of buds growth rate at 2,54 cm/month, the average diameter of buds growth rate is 1,33 mm/month and the average number of leaves growth rate is 4 strands/3 month.
