UJI TOKSISITAS AKUT EKSTRAK BIJI PALEM PUTRI (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.) Becc) TERHADAP TIKUS PUTIH BETINA GALUR WISTAR DENGAN FIXED DOSE PROCEDURE
Daftar Isi:
- Christmas Palm (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.) Becc) is one of the plant that possess antioxidants and cytotoxic activity. Medicinal plants that have shown its efficacy have to undergo the toxicity test to determine the consumption safety level, one of the test is acute toxicity test. In this experiment, the acute toxicity test of ethanol extract of Christmas Palm (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.) Becc) seed on female Wistar rats has been carried out with Fixed Dose Procedure. In fixed dose procedure, the observational study was conducted to obtain starting dose for the main study. From the observational study, the dose 2000 mg/kg BW was chosen as the starting dose for the main study. Experimental animal subject used in the main study were 10 female white Wistar rats which were divided into 2 groups, normal control group and treatment group with a dose of 2000 mg/kg BW. The result showed that there were no death or toxicity sign in all experimental animals. During the 7 days observation period, there were no significant changes in body weight of rats either in normal control group and treatment group (p<0,05). The result of biochemical parameters, showed no significant differences in levels of urea between normal control group and treatment group (p<0,05). Significant differences were shown in SGOT, SGPT, and creatinine levels between normal control group and treatment group (p<0,05). The result of SGOT, SGPT, and creatinine levels in treatment group were smaller than the normal control group. From the surgery performed on all test animals, the formation of small, round, white, and elastic mass in the liver of all rat in treatment group was discovered. It showed that the ethanol extract of Christmas Palm (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.) Becc) seed with dosage of 2000 mg/kg BW gives effect on the liver.
