EVALUASI PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI SERTA PERSILANGAN POLYCROSS BEBERAPA AKSESI TANAMAN JAGUNG (Zea mays. L)

- The study aims to evaluate the growth and production of some corn accessions, and to polycross the plants to produced full-sib seeds. Research was conducted in February to May, 2017 on farm-land area at Cambai, Prabumulih, South Sumatra. Research utilized a Nested Design of Randomized Block Design (RBD), where the 5 blocks considered nested in each accession. The corn accessions consisted of Unsri-J5 to J8. Data were analyzed by using Anova followed by 5% LSD-test. This research showed that the growth and production of several corn accessions varied, with plant-height ranging from 235 to 253 cm, flowering periode at 44 DAP and ear location at 93 to 100 cm. The highest production was reached by Unsri-J7 accession (3.4 tons/ha) and the lowest production was reached by Unsri-J6 accession (1.8 tons/ha). In general, this research indicated that Unsri-J6 accession showed the best growth, and Unsri-J7 accession showed the best production. Furthermore, based on the selection of the half-sib seed, this research predicts production of the progenies between 2.53 to 4.88 ton/ha, while selection base on full-sib seeds, this research predicts production of the progenies between 3.74 to 4.40 ton/ha.
