  • One of the main diseases of cocoa plantation in Indonesia is black pod caused by Phytophthora palmivora fungus. The purpose of this research was to determine the resistance level of six clones of cocoa against the infection of P. palmivora fungus caused by black pod. The research was conducted in March 2017 to September 2017. Samples of cocoa rotten fruits were obtained from a cocoa plantation located in Sejahtera villge of Palolo sub district of Sigi district and cocoa clones resistence testing was performed at the Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture of Tadulako University. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six clones i.e. Untad I, Local II, Local III, Palolo (Untad II), S2 and Irian clones. Each experimental unit was replicated three times. Results showed that the incubation period of clone S2 was one day faster (two days) compared to the other clones (three days). Under the observation of infectious symptom area development, the S2 clone had largest area of 114.37 indicating that it is very prone to the fungus attack. Local II clone was categorized prone the infectious area of 75.02 cm2. The other three clones i.e. Untad I, Local III and Irian were classified moderately resistance with the infectious area of 27.85 cm2, 25.09 cm2, and 26.88 cm2, respectively. Palolo clone was the only one that resistance to black pod disease with the infectious area of 21.17 cm2.
