One of the Strategy was Tell-Show Strategy. The purpose of this research was to determine whether there is asignificant effect on students’ writing ability between the students who were taught by using Tell-Show Strategy and those who are taught without using Tell-Show Strategy at Class Eight of Junior High School 2 Pariaman. The design of this research was experimental research. The population of this research was all of the students at class VIII of Junior High School 2 Pariaman that consist of 155 students and who were divided into five classes. Then, by using cluster random sampling the researcher took class VIII. 5 as the experimental class that consists of 31 students and class VIII. 4 as control class that consist of 31 students. In collecting the data, researcher used written test. The test was given to both classes with the same topic. Then, post-test was given after doing treatments for six meetings to determine the effect of using Tell-Show Strategy On Sttudents’ Writing Ability. The data was analyzed by using statistical procedures. T- was used to analyze the students’ post-test scores. The result of t-test (t calculate ) was compared with t at degree of freedom (df) 60 and the level of significant 5% (0.05).The resultof study showed that mean score of students’ writing in experimental class (79.58) with standard deviation (9.43) was higher than the mean score of students’ writingin control class (65.03) with standard deviation (9.73). It means that teaching writing by using Tell-Show Strategy gave significant difference on students’ writing ability. While, t calculated table (6.45) is also bigger than t (2.000). It means that hypothesis was accepted table . Statistically, it showed that teaching writing by using Tell-Show Strategy gave significant effect toward students’ writing ability at Class VIII of Junior High School 2 Pariaman. So, it is recommended that English teacher should consider the use of Tell-Show Strategy as a strategy in teaching writing for getting significant effect on students’ writing ability.
