  • This study will focus on the challenges of the Indonesian Government in facing transnational crimes of the drugs smuggling in the Sebatik island, given that there are many contributing factors that cause smuggling remains operating massively in the border. Furthermore, the government has been made various efforts to control the problem but it has continued to increase. This research is a descriptive study with qualitative methods. With the formulation of the problem “ How are the challenges of Indonesian Government in facing transnational crimes in Nunukan Regency, Batik Island". In this study, the transnational crime concept will be chosen as a framework to describe how the phenomenon of drug smuggling in Sebatik Island and the counter-narcotics concept will also illustrate the effort which has been made to control the problem. The results of this study indicate that the factor of drug smuggling remains to continue are the challenges due to poor law enforcement, low social participation and low political will of the Nunukan Regency Government that has made drugs difficult to be destroyed.
