  • Background: Communication media that exist today are very diverse followed by the development of information and technology. Social media as a part of communication become an interesting phenomenon and raises concerns. Social media users generally have a risk of an addiction that always accessing social media because social media users consider social media as a releasing of boredom, so excessive use may cause lack of sleep. The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between the intensity of social mediause and quality of sleep using a literatur study. Methods: Method used in this study was a study with literatur studies by revieweing 20 international journals related to social media use and quality of sleep. Data collection was done by seaching publications on google search. Then the data was synthesized by descriptive analysis. Results: In the analysis of 20 journals relating to the use of social media and quality of sleep, it was found that there are 19 journals said that the use of social media had a negative impact on quality of sleep. But there was 1 journal with a different opinion that students who use social networking WeChat have better quality of sleep than students who do not use WeChat. Disscusion: There was a relationship between the intensity of social media use and the quality of sleep in adolescents. The longer the use of social media can cause poor quality of sleep.
