UJI KARAKTERISTIK FISIK DAN AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI GEL EKSTRAK ETANOL BAWANG DAYAK Eleutherine palmifolia (Terhadap Pseudomonas aeruginosa)
Daftar Isi:
- Background : Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacterium that is an opportunistic pathogen. Ethanol extract of Dayak onion has antibacterial activity against the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Formulated in a gel dosage form because it is easily applied, comfortable to use on the skin, and provides a cool sensation. Objective : To determine the effect of Dayak onion ethanol extract levels with concentrations of 2%, 4%, and 6% on physical characteristics and to determine the antibacterial activity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from the preparation of Dayak onion ethanol extract gel. Method : The ethanol extract of dayak onions was formulated into gel in 3 formulas, namely FI (2%), FII (4%), and FIII (6%). Tested physical characteristics including organoleptic, pH, viscosity, homogeneity. The antibacterial activity test was tested by the well diffusion method. Result and Conclusion : The organoleptic test of the three dayak onion ethanol extract gel formulas has a soft texture, distinctive smell, Formula 1 has a brownish red (clear), Formula II is brownish red (thick), Formula III is brown. Based on the One-Way Anova statistical analysis shows a significant difference for the evaluation of viscosity and dispersion. In the antibacterial test the inhibition did not appear at the extract concentration of 2%, but at concentrations of 4% (10mm), and 6% (12 mm) there were inhibitory zones. The concentration of 6% has antibacterial activity better than the concentrations of 2% and 4%.
