- This study is purposed to describe the objective condition of the effectiveness of using crossword puzzle games in learning vocabulary at the second grade of MTs Hidayatul Mubtadi-ien Sobang. The sample of the research is 30 students of the second grade of MTs Hidayatul Mubtadi-ien Sobang. In getting the data, the writer used preexperimental method. The instrument of the research is pre-test and post-test. The findings of the study state that using crossword puzzle games in learning vocabulary is an effective way and quite success because it can improve the students� achievement in learning vocabulary. Based on the research finding, it can be suggested that: 1. Teacher should use an interesting technique in teaching English vocabulary, and one of technique that the writer suggests is using crossword puzzle. 2. In using crossword puzzle, teacher should use various construction of crossword puzzle. He also should use picture or other variation of crossword puzzle in order the students are not bored. 3. In doing crossword puzzle, students are expected to be more active and more using dictionary
