- The Thesis mostly describes an experiment in developing an academic information system application using XML parser to get data from AIS testing server through API in android operating system, following prototyping method as development methodology. Android is the most popular mobile operating system, a developer survey conducted in April - May 2013 found that 71% of mobile developers develop for Android. Academic information system is chosen as study case because the current system in syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta is web based application so the user is not freely access because it need laptop or PC to access the application. Prototyping method help the researcher to develop the application because the user can interact with development process, so the user requirements become increase so prototyping as an iterative development process really help the researcher to the develop the application. The result of the development AIS application by using XML parser to get the data, and emulator to run the application, the data is retrieved and can be shown well
