- A study about the protective effect of ethanolic extract of leaves of Toona sureni (Blume) Merr. to endothelial cells disorder due to high fat diet rat has been conducted. The protection effect was observed by giving the extract in the doses of 125; 250; 500; and 1000 mg/kgBW orally for 8 weeks to the rats which had been induced high fat diet. The damage of endothelial cells was monitored indirectly to the level of nitric oxide (NO) from the mean arterial blood pressure by using Biopac acquisition unit (MP150, BiopacTM ). The blood pressure was measured by performing cannulation method to anesthetized rat. The study showed that the extract provided a protective effect to endothelial cells disorder because it could increase the bioavailability of NO in that cells.
