- The objective of the research was to find out the influence of using Mind Mapping Technique toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN 5 Kota Serang. In this research, the researcher conducted quantitative research in collecting the data. The researcher took the seventh grade of SMPN 5 Kota Serang.This research used quantitative method with true experimental research design as a method of the research. The populations of this research all of the students of seventh grade in SMPN 5 Kota Serang, and the sample were the students of VII F as experimental class and VII G as control class. The classes were chosen by cluster random sampling from ten classes. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test consisting of 20 multiple choice items A, B, C or D. In analyzing the data, the researcher used T-test. The result of the calculation showed that in the significance degree of 5% is istcount(3.65) is higher than ttable(1.99).It means the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and it can be seen that the average gained score of the experimental class is higher than those of control class. Therefore, it can be concluded that Mind Mapping Technique is effective on the students’ vocabulary mastery text at the seventh grade of SMPN 5 Kota Serang. So, it can be concluded that there was a significant influence on vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN 5 Kota Serang. It showed that in the result of test after implementing Mind Mapping Technique (in posttest) gave the good improvement. Furthermore, this technique can be an alternative technique for English in teaching learning process especially in vocabulary mastery.
