- The libraries that make up the Consorcio de Digitalización de Prensa Vasca keep a digitization project of contemporary newspapers related to Basque culture. Both characteristics and contents of the resulting digital collection are described. It is defended the need to undertake a project of digital preservation in the light of guidelines established by international experts and institutions. The paper also describes different technological choices in order to establish a storage infrastructure capable of facing the challenges posed by digital preservation. Finally, different choices are suggested to be implemented by the Consorcio at a lower cost and with a higher guarantee of success.
