- This paper makes a revision of metadata schemas concept, typology and use for information discovery, preservation and access in the current digital records and archives landscape, as well as the recordkeeping tasks around them. It analyses the changes and challenges in document description, from the traditional standards like ISAD (G) to the most new metadata standards founded on XML metalanguage and in a semantic model of metadata schemas.
