- The aims of this research was to describe the strategy that which was conducted by Daarul Ilmi Library in fulfilment of information needs of SMP IT Abu Bakar Boarding School Yogyakarta’s students. The research method used in this research was descriptive qualitive method. Data collecting method was done using elaboration, interview, and documentation. Informant-taking technique was purposice sampling. Data analisys technique used in this research was data analisys Miles and Huberman model which was data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result of the research mentioned that the information needs of boarding students are new information, specific information and recreative information. The strategy used by Daarul Ilmi Library was: (1) Subsribed to various serial. The serials subscribed by Daarul Ilmi Library consist 13 titles comprising: 4 newspaper titles, 1 tabloid titles, and 9 magazine titles; (2) Provided internet access. Internet access which was provided by Daarul Ilmi Library is intended for students to obtain information on learning support for students; (3) Reference service. The reference services are provided to students to enable students to obtain information, both within the library and outside the library; (4) Provided television facilities. The television facilities are used at certain times as a medium to meet the needs of boarding students with minimal access of information. Provided fictional collections. The Obstacles of fulfillment information needs are the lack of human resources and computer facilities damage. The Support for information needs is a funding support from the school. Meanwhile, 2 of the 6 strategic plans of Daarul Ilmi Library concentrate on the fulfillment of information needs. From those result, researcher suggested to Daarul Ilmi Library to form of revamping the collection of serial management so as to facilitate the retrieval of information, computer and internet repaired to retrieval of information, optimalization of reference service, omptimalization of television facilities so the information needs by boarding students can be fulfilled, and needs assessment for acquisition fictional collections.
