  • ABSTRAK There are many rivermouths in Indonesia which are utilized for fishing harbours. The most problem occurs in this rivermouth is the sedimentation, especially during dry season and low water tide. Due to this sedimentation, the maneuverability of the fishing vessel through the rivermouth is disturbed. High vessel is usually blocked and cannot pass the sedimentation. In order to solve this problem, government usually builds the double jetty to protect rivermouth from sedimentation or dredge the sedimentation along the rivermouth to deepen the navigation channel. Based on a special research done at Hydraulic and Hydrology Laboratory, Research Center For Engineering Science Gadjah Mada University, it is suggested to use another alternative to solve sedimentation problem using fluidization method. This fluidization system is developed in laboratory-scale, in cooperation with The Department of Marine and Fisheries (Departemen Kelautan dan Perikanan). The result of the research is summarized to set up a guideline to design and to operate the fluidization system in maintaining the depth of rivermouth for navigation purposes.
