Daftar Isi:
- The existence of germplasm of local chicken in Indonesia is quite numerous and very diverse. One of local chicken germplasm is pelung chicks that has potency to be developed as a local type of broiler chicken. This research was conducted to determine the inheritance pattern of Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-1) gene and its association on the growth of chickens. The method used in this study was PCR-RFLP using the HindIII enzyme to determine polymorphism on chicken that derived from crossing of pelung chicken and broiler. The parameters that were observed on this research include the chicken growing state for 7 weeks that converted to Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and IGF-I gene diagnostic from PCR-RFLP technique. The result of this research showed that the weight of the chicken derived from crossing of pelung species and broiler species have range of 726 1.065 g. The F1 chicken weight was heavier than pelung species but not as much as that of broiler species. FCR of the F1 chicken population is 1.8. The result of PCR IGF-I gene amplified with base 200 bp. Showed no segmented result on the fragment cut with Hindlll enzyme. On this research, did not find any polymorphism of IGF-I gene on the chicken and did not find any association between growing state and IGF-I gene of GAMA pelung and broiler.
